Development and Operation of Our Environmental Education System
Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma conducts a variety of environmental education initiatives aimed at giving employees a broad knowledge of environmental challenges such as global warming, and at getting employees to participate in a wide range of environmental conservation activities not only within the company but also within their homes and the community. In April each year, we provide new employees with education focused on global environmental challenges and Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma's environmental conservation activities. We also conduct appropriate environmental education for employees in plants and laboratories, while raising employees' awareness in other workplaces through environmental education and events geared to each site.
Moreover, at each workplace we train key persons in environmental management, with the goal of building human resources able to provide leadership in workplace environmental activities.
In addition, through the Environmental Safety News site on our intranet, we share environment-related internal information and examples of relevant activity. We also use poster displays during Environment Month each June to boost environmental awareness amongst employees.
Communication with Group Companies
Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma and seven group companies in Japan have an annual meeting to exchange information on environment and safety. Moreover, from fiscal 2011 we held an internal audit at Japanese group companies to monitor their compliance with environmental and safety policies.
Commitment to Biodiversity Protection
As a part of our employee participatory environmental communication activities, we implement our commitment to biodiversity protection through forest conservation activities.
