Supporting through Employee Participation
Supports of Educating the Next Generation
School class by employees
As part of our social contribution activities, Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma supports the development of the next generation in unique ways that utilize our experience in pharmaceuticals manufacturing. We send employees to junior and senior high schools to conduct collaborative lessons taught alongside educators.
These lessons are based on an original curriculum that we developed to teach about ethics, and they support general learning and study in subject areas such as science, social studies, and home economics. The lessons aim to foster students' ability to address difficult questions about life and ethics (for which there are no "correct" answers), by developing their own views and reaching their own decisions while understanding the views of others. During fiscal 2014 these class lessons were conducted at 7 schools (two junior high schools and five senior high schools).
Launching Educational Website "SUKOYAKA Compass"

At the marché, we sell specialty food and bakery products from the Heart Bread Project, which donates a portion of its proceeds to areas recovering from the earthquake.
A photo exhibition was also held at a marché held in September 2014. The exhibition featured news photos taken from just after the occurrence of the disaster contrasted with recent scenes of the affected areas, to help keep maintain concern for those still affected by the disaster.
Supporting the Reconstruction Support Intern Project
The Reconstruction Support Intern Project is run by Fukko University and the Reconstruction Office of the Miyagi Prefecture Reconstruction Agency. The project provides undergraduate and graduate students with the opportunity to work at companies affected by the earthquake. The participants then return home to share their experiences, what they felt and learned while working in the affected areas and at the companies recovering from the earthquake. We offer economic assistance in the form of underwriting the lodging and transportation fees of the student participants.
Supporting Health Programs for Fukushima Area Children
This initiative supports the health of children and their guardians living in the Fukushima area. The program aims to educate children about their own physical and mental health, so that they can apply the knowledge to their own daily life to promote good health. Through the program, which is operated by the non-profit Heartful Heart organization, children learn how to check for radiation exposure and about its effects and what measures to take, as well as learning about diet, lifestyle, and stress management.
